Montana Elopement Wedding Photography-Michelle and Eric

This couple came over from Oregon and wanted to get married at the Missoula County Courthouse. I hadn’t been in the courthouse since the renovation…it looks fantastic! I fell in love with how the light cascaded through the windows and the geometric shapes of the architecture was the perfect backdrop to her princess wedding gown. After the ceremony we drove all over finding one gorgeous location after another. If you want adventure elopements…Montana is the way to go. We finished up at a gorgeous antique barn in the middle of a field before they headed up to Glacier for the night. Congrats guys…your day was truly spectacular!!!

Remember that adorable couple with the kick ass Jeeps! Well they got hitched this year and it was absolutely spectacular! Of course they included their Jeeps…they flanked the aisle of the ceremony creating a gorgeous setting with the Bitterroot mountains in the background. The teller Wildlife Refuge and Barn was a beautiful location and Montana certainly was showing off during sunset…one of the most epic ones I’ve ever seen! Congrats Juana and Justing!

This engagement portrait was shot in one of my favorite locations in Montana. It has some beautiful rock formations along the Blackfoot River with the mountains surrounding the entire area. And can we just take a minute and appreciate those shoes!

This couple was all Montana through and through…they wanted to have their engagement portraits down by the bitterroot river and incorporate both their custom Jeeps and their adorable dog! We laughed nearly the entire time and the weather opened up and gave us a gorgeous Montana sunset to play with!

Wedding planning tips from a wedding expert-Addressing checks

Make sure to politely/tactfully remind your guests to properly address checks using your maiden name or to use the word "OR" not "AND" when filling them out. (I.e. Make payable to Mr. OR Mrs Smith). Some banks will make it very difficult for you to cash these after the wedding, especially if you haven't changed your name yet (may even require proof of marriage).

Wedding Planning Tips From a Wedding Expert-Ceremony Lighting and Shadows

When you're deciding on the details of your outdoor ceremony there's something you may not have taken into consideration...the lighting!  The lighting is extremely important not only for the photographs but also the guests and even the couple.  Too often I see shadows on the couple, or worse yet just on one or the other.  I've seen couples crying, not from emotion but from having to stare into the sun.  I've seen guests, blinded not by the beauty of the bride but the glaring sun right in their faces.  The best thing you can do is to try and orient the ceremony so that the entire bridal party is evenly lit by the sun and the guests have their backs to it.  Don't stand directly under a gazebo or tree unless you can ensure even shade throughout.
